Phase 3: Real Conversation • Day 75 of 90 ⏱️ 30 Minutes Intermediate

🇵🇭 Tagalog — Day 75 Module

Conversational Repair: Pakiulit po, Dahan-dahan lang po & Ano ang ibig sabihin nito?

Day 75 launches Week 11: Conversation Skills with arguably the single most important meta-skill in language learning: Conversational Repair. You don't need to understand every word a native speaker utters—you just need to know what to do when you get lost. Today you master asking for repetition ('Pakiulit po'), slowing down fast speech ('Dahan-dahan lang po'), asking for definitions ('Ano ang ibig sabihin nito?'), and asking how to say words ('Paano sabihin sa Tagalog ang...?').

🎯 Today's Goal: Keep real Tagalog conversations alive without switching to English when you encounter fast speech or unfamiliar vocabulary.
  • Politely ask a native speaker to repeat themselves ('Pakiulit po', 'Ano po?')
  • Request a slower pace with grace ('Dahan-dahan lang po')
  • State non-comprehension directly and politely ('Pasensya na po, hindi ko naiintindihan')
  • Ask what specific unfamiliar words mean ('Ano ang ibig sabihin ng...?')
  • Ask how to say English concepts in Tagalog ('Paano sabihin sa Tagalog ang...?')
  • Score 9+/10 on the Day 75 Clarification & Repair Test

🛡️ The Anti-Freeze Rule

When a native speaker talks too fast, do not freeze or switch immediately to English. Using 'Pakiulit po' or 'Dahan-dahan lang po' keeps the conversation in Tagalog and wins immediate respect and encouragement from locals.
