🇵🇭 Tagalog — Day 45 Module

Week 7 Kickoff: Direct Requests, Food, Destinations & Natural Interaction

Welcome to Week 7! Up until now, you have built immense strength describing what you are doing, did, and will do. Today we transition into active interpersonal communication: expressing desires, ordering food, choosing destinations, and asking others what they want using the indispensable pseudo-verb 'Gusto'.

🎯 Today's Goal: Express wants, personal preferences, and requests automatically in Tagalog using 'Gusto ko ng...' and 'Gusto kong...'.
  • Master the essential desire formula: 'Gusto ko ng [Noun]' (I want a thing)
  • Master the verb connection: 'Gusto kong [Verb]' (I want to do an action)
  • Ask and respond to 'Ano ang gusto mo?' and 'Ano ang gusto mong kainin / inumin?'
  • Use the conversational marker 'rin' to say 'Gusto ko rin' (I want it too / I also want it)
  • Conduct a natural restaurant ordering interaction with politeness markers
  • Deliver the 60-Second Wants Challenge and complete the Days 42–45 Cumulative Narrative
  • Score 9+/10 on the Day 45 Wants Examination

3. ⏱️ 10–15 Min — The Three Essential 'Gusto' Formulas

Master the core structures for nouns, actions, and questions:

Formula 1: Desiring an Object (Noun)

Use 'Gusto ko ng [Bagay]':

🌐
• Gusto kong uminom ng kape. → I want to drink coffee.
🌐
• Gusto kong pumunta sa restawran. → I want to go to the restaurant.
🌐

Formula 3: Inquiring Desires

Asking others what they want:

Ano ang gusto mo? • Ano ang gusto mong kainin / inumin?
• Q: Ano ang gusto mo? → A: Gusto ko ng pagkain. → Q: What do you want? → A: I want food.
🌐
• Q: Ano ang gusto mong kainin? → A: Gusto kong kumain ng adobo. → Q: What do you want to eat? → A: I want to eat adobo.
